General Info:
Georgia - Chattahoochee National Forest Trails:
The Chattahoochee has about
300 miles of hiking-only trails. The real claim to fame is the southern
start of the Appalachian Trail on Springer Mountain. Walk the trail
north for 79 miles all the way to North Carolina. If you want, keep
walking, and eventually you'll get to Maine - 2,200 miles later.
There are trails (blue signs) that
lead off the Appalachian Trail (white signs) and take you to
water. Some shelters have springs near them, but they can dry
up
in summer time.

Georgia Appalachian
Trail Club site.
